The Grant Program

The Canadian Quarter Horse Association is a non-profit organization that provides financial support to events and initiatives that help expand AQHA and Canadian Quarter Horse Association membership, promote the American Quarter Horse, protect the integrity of the breed, and showcase the many talents of the American Quarter Horse.

A wide range of activities may support these objectives. The Grant Committee reviews applications and allocates available funding to programs and events that best align with the goals of the Canadian Quarter Horse Association.

The primary purpose of the Canadian Quarter Horse Association is to support and promote the Canadian Quarter Horse industry, both nationally and internationally. The Canadian Quarter Horse Association also works to support the ongoing efforts of Provincial AQHA Affiliates across Canada.

Each year, AQHA allocates grant funding to the Canadian Quarter Horse Association to help support, promote, and develop American Quarter Horse activities throughout Canada.

The Canadian Quarter Horse Association administers these funds through Affiliate Grant Funding provided to Provincial and Regional AQHA Affiliates. These funds help affiliates promote the American Quarter Horse and sponsor approved AQHA events and activities according to established guidelines.

Current objectives include encouraging AQHA and Canadian Quarter Horse Association membership growth, increasing AQHA registrations, promoting the American Quarter Horse, protecting breed integrity, and supporting activities that highlight the breed’s versatility and talents.

AQHA International Educational Marketplace

The program formerly known as AQHA International Horsemanship Camps has been rebranded as the AQHA International Educational Marketplace. As one of AQHA’s longest-running international programs, this updated initiative was designed to make educational funding more accessible to international affiliates and members while expanding learning opportunities across multiple countries.

The AQHA International Educational Marketplace provides educational seminar funding through a grant application process. Grants ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 are available for approved seminars. With this funding, seminar hosts may invite AQHA Professional Horsemen and Horsewomen, trainers, judges, university groups, and other equine industry professionals from the United States to lead educational sessions.

The program allows hosts to customize seminar content based on participant skill levels, preferred learning formats, and selected educational topics. Seminars may include hands-on training sessions, lectures, demonstrations, and other educational experiences tailored to local needs.

Educational Marketplace clinics have continued to grow in popularity worldwide. In 2020, AQHA funded 20 clinics featuring 26 clinicians travelling internationally to deliver educational programs and hands-on learning opportunities for AQHA members and affiliates.

Countries benefiting from the program in 2020 included Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, France, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
